About Wildflower Diapers

Our family, June 2005. This
picture was taken at Snowbowl in Flagstaff, Arizona.
While on maternity leave following my daughter Ella's birth in the Fall
of 2004, I began to dread the day that I would have to return to work. I
didn't work full-time until my son, Riley, entered preschool at age 3, and I
couldn't imagine putting Ella in childcare full-time at age 3 months. Don't get
me wrong- our day care provider was fantastic- like a second mother to Riley.
But it just didn't feel right to me for Ella. Financially, the difference
between me working part-time and full-time, less childcare and gas, was very
small! It just didn't make sense for our family.
I had previously dreamed of opening a shop. But it seemed an unreachable
goal- way too expensive, too much overhead, etc. And then I started meeting
other breastfeeding, babywearing, cloth-diapering mamas. Many of them worked
from home sewing diapers, knitting, making slings, doing tie-dye- whatever their
particular talents were. These women inspired me- they were home with their kids
while also making a financial contribution to their families. I knew it wouldn't
be easy, but I started to seriously plan my own business.
Wildflower Diapers opened as a home-based business online in June 2005, with
a small selection of cloth diapers and organic baby products that I had come to
know through use on my own children. We grew out of our home after about a year,
but continue to operate out of our Scottsdale,
Arizona location with our children by our side! I feel so blessed to
have this opportunity to do something I truly enjoy- connecting with
other cloth-diapering families and sharing with you all the products that I
have grown to trust and love. Thank you for the opportunity to earn
your business!
